A Soul Sisters Evening Full of Connection, Grounding & Tea Ceremony

Over the weekend, I had the honor of guiding some of my soul sisters through an evening of tea ceremony and meaningful conversation at our home. I'm sharing our experience, as I hope it will encourage and inspire you to create similar experiences for yourself and your group of close girlfriends.

There is something powerful, uplifting, and magical that happens when we gather as women. Sisterhood is healing and it is important for us women to find this type of connection and nurture it regularly.

Creating space & Arrival

During the afternoon, I created special space in my yoga and meditation room for our gathering. I set the tea table with tea bowls, two varieties of tea (oolong and herbal), and crystals I felt would best fit our energy (clear quartz, rose quartz, citrine, and a beautiful aventurine I brought back from Kauai). I placed floor pillows around the table for each friend.

All the feminine crystals! Clear quartz for amplifying our intentions, citrine to attract joy & abundance, rose quarts for love, and my special piece of aventurine to bring in all the beauty & magic from the island of Kauai

Creating an inviting space is important. You want to feel warm, cozy, and comfortable in the space you're in, especially when healing is unfolding. A couple of simple ways to create a warm space is through music and lighting. I picked soft savasana-style music to play in the background, lit tea lights, and turned on my salt lamp and spotlights to give the space a warm glow (if you don't own a salt lamp yet, do yourself a favor and purchase one or two or ten).

Everyone arrived around 8 p.m.(albeit in stages, as it's kind of my girlfriends' jam to arrive late to everything. haha), and we moved into my yoga room. If you don't have a dedicated space (even if it's a small corner of a room) for your spiritual practice, I highly recommend giving yourself permission to create this special space!

I saged (otherwise known as "smudging") each of my soul sisters, front-to-back of the body, as she entered the space, then saged the entire room. Sage is an ancient tool and smudging is an ancient practice with Native American roots, for clearing energy. Smudging with sage removes any low vibrational energy sticking around the space or one's being. I like to use sage and incense before I meditate in the mornings, which helps clear out any of the stuff I processed the day prior. It's ideal to have an intention in your heart or say aloud what you are purifying before and during the smudging. For example, I like to say "only beings of love are welcomed here" and "I cleanse this space of anything that does not serve us."

Pranayama & manifestation

We all sat down around the tea table (p.s.- my partner, Marc, built my tea tables with love and such craftsmanship) and dropped into our bodies through pranayama (breathwork). I guided my friends through deep belly breathing and invited them to scan for areas of tension and resistance and send the breath to those areas, mental or physical.

We then picked the tea we wanted to enjoy- a yummy blueberry infused herbal tea, ideal for the evening as it's caffeine free. After the tea steeped, I poured a small amount into each tea bowl and invited everyone to say aloud what they wanted to manifest and attract into their lives.

With the tea bowls held over our heart space, these words poured into our ceremony: prosperity, support, ambition, focus, knowledge, wisdom, surrender, trust. We intentionally infused our tea with these words from our hearts- in support of each other and in support of our selves.

Mindfulness & gratitude

Before taking the first sip of our tea, we explored our senses (the warmth of the tea in our hands, the aroma, its color). We gave gratitude for the tea and to all those who helped bring the tea to us, so we could enjoy it. After sipping our first cup of tea mindfully and in silence, we opened up the space for conversation, connection, laughter, and love. We shared our thoughts and feelings about our current relationships, jobs, budding passions and ideas for our future soul sisters evenings. Listening and being a part of these conversations creates a seal of trust and a sense of support.

If you've never had your girlfriends over (or been hosted) for this type of gathering, give it a try! And if you'd enjoy having another woman create and facilitate this space for you and your sisters, I'd love to bring this gathering to fruition with you! :)
